Painting for our World: Art Therapy and How Painting Can Empower Communities Abroad

Come prepared to PAINT to your heart’s content! In this workshop, join the Florida Art Therapy Association (FATA) and Stars of Hope in learning about one of the many examples of how art therapy is transforming our global health. Participants will be painting one-foot decorative stars that will be used by Stars of Hope to bring comfort to communities impacted by disaster. Stars of Hope is a healing arts program that responds around the world to areas affected by man-made or natural trauma. By learning more about how art therapy fosters hope and resiliency at a global scale, participants can better appreciate the powerful effects of arts in medicine. Supplemented by an engaging discussion, participants will be able to creatively explore how art therapy is positively impacting mental healthcare in a global setting.
